Even as you come to this book, my heart has gone out to you. I pray that my story is what you have been searching for.
Child abuse and mental illness would have to be two of the most powerfully detrimental maladies facing our society today.
When Angels Cry begins with the initial discovery of my daughter's sexual abuse at the hands of my own father. It goes on to portray the family confrontations, the police investigations, the court cases and the ongoing personal dilemmas created by such an incident.
It leads you into the aftermath; my personal decades-long descent into the hell and madness that is manic depression (bipolar disorder). It tells of my marriage breakdown, business failures, bankruptcy, cancer and loneliness and shows the debilitating effect of this on all those around me.
The second section of When Angels Cry follows me through my recovery, my healing. This part of the book - even as I read it now - contains enormous truths and answers, the vastness of which I was totally unaware as I wrote them.
When Angels Cry brings you right into my heart and mind as I journey through a nightmare and come out the other side. It offers hope; extraordinary hope. This is the reason for my desire to share the journey with you.
You can overcome nightmares. You can recover from mental illness. You can and will learn and grow from the most crippling life events you can imagine.
